National St Georges day parade at Windsor Castle

This year the Scout Association made 300 spectator tickets for the national St Georges day parade at Windsor castle available to any Scout or guide group in the UK. These were allocated on a first come first served basis .

8th Sheppey were lucky enough to get 5 tickets.

Andy (our GSL) and Peter (ASL) and 1 Cub and 2 Scouts went to represent the group as spectators at the parade.

We arrived in Windsor at about noon, so we went and had a burger for lunch then had a brief walk around Windsor before getting in the queue for the parade.

Once inside the castle we stood outside St Georges chapel to watch the parade march past on its way from the quadrangle to St Georges chapel.

After that we moved down to near the Henry VIII gate to get a better view as the guests left the chapel and listen to the service as it was broadcast for those outside the chapel.

While waiting we saw the changing of the guard and the new guard was the tallest we had ever seen taking over from one of the shortest (see the photo below).

We then moved outside the castle as they all left and the scouts got a rare chance to have a photo with the Chief Scout (Peter Duncan), Andy asked him if we could have a photo of him with our group and he agreed and had a brief chat with the group as we got ready for the photo's.

It was a memorable end to the day.
