This year the Scout Association launched a new charity event called Gimme
5.
It was aimed at helping to raise funds for the WWF and the Scout Association. After the Tsunami the Scout Association decided their part of the money should go to their Tsunami fund for Scout groups instead of the association. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers were invited to attempt one of the many challenge ideas given by the SA to help raise money.
The cubs were given the challenge 'Give up your favorite thing for a week'
which came from the African section.
Between them they gave up their favorite things, chocolate, TV, computer game machines. Between them they managed to raise a grand total of £104.50.
If they raised over £15 they were rewarded with a certificate and if they
raised over £25 they also got a silver medal and certificate.
8th Sheppey was the only group to in Sheppey District to participate in the Gimme 5 challenge Below are the winners and the awards
