Many thanks to members of the retained crew of Eastchurch Fire Station for making the visit interesting and fun for the Beavers. (the leaders had fun as well !!)

We found out that the firefighters all have fun nick names such as Waldorf, Brains, Donkey, Scrappy-Doo,  Shrek, and Penfold are the ones that come to mind easily

There was also the order of the silver dummy which some of the beavers asked about.

Below are some photos of the visit

Eastchurch Fire Engine   Many thanks to Eastchurch retained fire crew for a fun and interesting evening.

Scrappy-Doo and the Beavers   One of the newest members (Scrappy-Doo) of the crew explaining some of the equipment carried on the appliance.

Ropes are called lines   A firefighter explaining that ropes are called lines in the Fire Service.

Beavers in the Crew Compartment   The Beavers in the back of the appliance, learning about the breathing apparatus and radios and what the crew are doing on the way to a shout.

Main Pump Controls   The main pump controls at the rear of the appliance.

Beware Beaver Driving   Another happy Beaver, wonder if this one is thinking of a career?

Using the thermal imaging camera   The Beavers were shown the expensive toys, they were shown how the thermal imaging camera worked.  They were told it was not only used for locating people but also checking fires were extinguished completely.

How to operate a fire extinquisher safely   The fun part

They all understood the seriousness of fires and that extinguishers are NOT toys and if they see anyone playing with them they should report it to a responsible adult.
